A trade platform connecting verified factories with brands and retailers
I designed and built a multi-company B2B platform that connects verified factories with verified brands and retailers, so cross-border sourcing runs through verified accounts, clear stages and a full audit trail instead of email chains.
- Sector
- Manufacturing, sourcing and cross-border trade
- Stack
- TypeScript, NestJS, Next.js, Postgres, Redis, Stripe
- Status
- Live, in active testing
The problem
Buyers struggle to tell a reliable factory from a risky one, and sellers struggle to reach serious buyers. Orders are run over email and chat, with documents scattered and no single record of who agreed what.
What I did
I designed the system and built it for a small partner team with commercial and supply-chain experience. Every business is verified before it can trade, through a workflow with approve, reject or request-more-information.
Roles and permissions are set in detail for buyers, sellers and admins. Orders move through defined stages, every action is written to an audit log, and documents sit in one vault. Paid tiers control which features each account can use, and AI is built in through the same API the web app uses.
Tools and stack, in plain words
A TypeScript codebase (NestJS API, Next.js front end) on Postgres, with Redis, a dedicated search engine, file storage, Stripe subscriptions and two-factor sign-in, all running in containers. Each build step was covered by automated end-to-end tests.
Outcome
The platform is live, with ongoing testing. The core was built step by step with automated tests at each stage: data model, sign-in with two-factor, business verification, permissions, subscriptions and feature limits.
What it shows about how I work
I design trust in from the first release rather than adding it later. And I work well as the technical half of a team where others own the commercial side.
FAQ
How do you build trust into a B2B sourcing platform?
Him Yip's approach is to verify every business before it can trade, give each role only the permissions it needs, move orders through set stages and log every action, so there's one record of who agreed what.
Does Him Yip work with partners who own the commercial side?
Yes. On this platform he designed and built the system while a small partner team led the commercial and supply-chain work.
