Content and marketing

Publishing more articles, FAQs and video without adding staff

I built content and video publishing systems that take an article, FAQ or video from draft to approved, scheduled and findable by search engines and AI assistants, in English and both forms of Chinese.

The problem

Small businesses know they should publish: articles, answers to common questions, short videos. In practice each piece needs writing, reviewing, formatting, a search title, structured data, a share image and a note to the search engines, and in a bilingual market all of it twice or three times.

So it happens in bursts, then stops.

What I did

I built the publishing side into the sites and platforms I run, so the steps after writing happen by themselves. Every page has an "in short" answer of 40 to 60 words, its questions, its sources, an author and a reviewer, and its own search title and description.

Pages can be scheduled. An hourly job tells the search engines when a scheduled page goes live and refreshes the cache. The sitemap, RSS feed, share cards and the llms.txt summary that AI crawlers read are all generated from the live content, so they never fall out of date. Changing a page's address adds a redirect automatically.

On the video side, each page can carry a video per language (English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese) with captions and video structured data, and the player only loads once the visitor agrees to cookies. I also produced a short explainer with an AI presenter and captions, and short training modules that pair a video with a quiz.

The rule across all of it: AI and bots can draft, a person approves, and nothing posts itself.

Tools and stack, in plain words

Next.js sites with a Postgres-backed admin for content, scheduled jobs run from GitHub Actions, IndexNow for telling search engines about new pages, generated sitemaps, feeds and llms.txt, and privacy-friendly video embeds with caption files and VideoObject markup.

Outcome

The systems are in use on live sites. Each new page arrives with its search and AI set-up already done, instead of as a follow-up job, and publishing no longer stops when the team gets busy.

What it shows about how I work

Writing is only half of publishing; the other half is plumbing. I automate the plumbing and keep a person on the quality.

FAQ

How can a small business publish more content without hiring?

Automate everything after the writing: scheduling, search titles, structured data, sitemaps, share images and notifying search engines. Him Yip built systems that do this, while a person still approves every page.

Does AI publish content on its own in these systems?

No. AI and bots can draft, but a person approves before anything goes live.
